* NEW MODULE * !!
Alpine Station Module
Alpine Station is a recreation of the spartan facilities on the west side of Alpine Tunnel on the Denver, South Park and Pacific RR. The barren landscape on this module accurately reflects what is seen at this location at about 11,500' elevation and the Continental Divide. The engine house contains a short turntable for snow-free turning of locomotives.

Alpine Tunnel Module
This module shows the western (Pacific) portal of the Alpine Tunnel where the line passed under Altman Pass (sometimes referred to as Alpine Pass) . This portal was at elevation 11,521.13 ft., the pass was at elevation 11,940 ft. and the tunnel was 1,771.7' long. This tunnel was the first to pierce the continental divide and for a long time was the highest RR in the world. I believe it is still in the top 5 highest RR's ever built.

The Palisades Module
This scene is of the world famous Palisades, just downgrade less than 3 miles from the west portal of the Alpine Tunnel. One of 3 places where the DSP&P had no room to build their roadbed so they constructed dry fit rock walls w/ backfill to create a shelf upon which to locate the line. The resulting roadbed lasted with no maintenance for over 110 years, and has only recently been posted for no passage due to a snow avalanche which damaged, but did not destroy the roadbed, as seen in the photo below of the damaged section on the prototype.

Photo taken August 7, 2018, disappointed I couldn't get thru to the tunnel by Jeep. No longer able to handle a 3 mile walk, up a 4% grade at 11,000' elevation. Just think how difficult it had to have been working in this environment to dig the Alpine tunnel and build these and other nearby stone works & buildings! It's no wonder they had horrific worker turnover problems.
Creede Plus Module
This is their Creede Plus module, showing the Creede Water Tank and Station.
