The completed Silverton Northern Loop is planned to include 16 sectional modules with connections to other club modules in 2 locations, Silverton B table and Lake City A table.

Silverton - Lori Flom

Silverton is a re-creation of the famous mining town in southwestern Colorado.  It was the destination of the Denver & Rio Grande, and the starting point for three railroads into the mining districts of the San Juan Mountains.

It all starts with 3 little tables called Silverton. While I thought this would be the easiest of the groups of tables. I find it is in fact very hard.  (Maybe the 16 turnouts, each having 3 routes to align for a total of 48 tracks which must all align properly on just 3 modules might have something to do with it!)  This will be a busy place at train time, but with 4 railroads serving Silverton it was always a busy place while all 4 lines were running.

If just the 3 Silverton tables are taken to a show, they allow for an outside connection in 3 directions which can aid in creating a layout with many possibilities.

Silverton Under Construction

The Silverton tables were built using the  same method of construction as the Illinois Division modules.  The modules were 2-1/2' by 5', built as a honeycomb, and used a lot of clamps during construction.  The tables are easy to set up.  Photos by Lori Flom.

John Massura of the Illinois Division led the construction crew.

Lots of clamps!  Here the honeycomb structure is clearly visible.

The tracks are being laid.  March 2020.
